Competitors Guide


1. What is the event?

The 3rd edition of our In-House Competition, a friendly and structured event designed to give

students a real competition experience in a safe and supportive environment.


2. When and where will the event take place?

Date: May 31st, 2026

Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Location: Mineola Civic Center & RV Park

1150 N Newsom St, Mineola, TX 75773


3. Which schools are participating?

This is an in-house event hosted by Gracie Barra Lindale.

Gracie Barra Tyler has been invited as a guest school.


4. Who can participate?

All students from Gracie Barra Lindale and invited students from Gracie Barra Tyler.


5. What is the minimum age to compete?

Students can compete starting from 3 years old.


6. Does my child need competition experience?

No. This event is designed especially for beginners.


7. Does my child need a specific belt level?

No. Students can compete as white belts.


8. How long does my child need to be training to participate?

Students can participate with as little as 2 months of training.


9. My child is nervous. Should they still compete?

Yes! We strongly encourage it.

This event is designed to provide a safe, organized, family-friendly, and supportive first

competition experience.

Our goal is to help students understand what a competition feels like in a positive way.

For many students, this is their first step into the competition world, helping build confidence,

discipline, and motivation.


10. How do I register?

Go to the In-House Competition section.

Complete the registration form, sign the waiver, and submit the competitor’s information. Payment is

completed during registration.


11. What is the registration fee?

Regular Registration: $75.00 until May 15th, 2026

Late Registration: $85.00 until May 24th, 2026 (last day)


12. How are matches organized?

Matches are not bracket-based. Each match is 1 vs 1 and is created based on:

 Age

 Weight

 Belt level

 Experience

We use instructor input and tools to ensure fair and safe matchups.


13. When will matches be announced?

Matches will be released between May 26th and May 29th.


14. What rules will be used?

We follow official International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) rules.

A full explanation will be provided during the parents’ meeting.


15. Is there a meeting before the competition?

Yes.

Date: May 29th

Time: 5:00 PM

Location: Gracie Barra Lindale


16. What time should we arrive on competition day?

Please arrive at least 20–30 minutes before your estimated match time.


17. What happens at check-in?

We will verify:

 Weight

 Clean hands and feet

 Trimmed nails

 Full uniform compliance


18. What uniform is required?

Competitors must wear:

 Official Gracie Barra gi (any color/model)

 Official Gracie Barra rash guard

Important: Competitors without the official uniform will not be allowed to compete.


19. Will weight be checked?

Yes. A small variation of 1–2 lbs may be allowed depending on age.

20. Who ensures safety during matches?

Experienced referees, including black belts, will be present on the mat at all times.

Matches will be stopped immediately if any unsafe situation is identified.


21. Can parents and family watch the matches?

Yes. Family and friends are welcome to attend and watch all matches.


22. How does the medal system work?

Each match is between two competitors.

There are no brackets.

Each match awards:


 1st Place

 2nd Place


23. What happens after the match?

Competitors will be directed to the podium to receive their medals.


24. Will there be food available?

Yes. Food trucks will be available outside the venue.

Food and drinks are optional and sold separately.


25. What if my child misses their match?

We cannot guarantee rescheduling. Please arrive early and stay attentive.


26. Can competitors have more than one match?

We aim for at least one match per competitor. Additional matches may be possible depending on

availability.


27. Are refunds available?

No refunds will be issued after registration is completed.


28. Can we take photos and videos?

Yes. Families are welcome to take photos and videos during the event.
